19th April 2014: Open of the green!
Note: Updates to the website are in the pipeline. Meantime, if you want to contact the Club, then please use the Contact Us form.
Club History:
The club was founded on the 22nd of March, 1893. Initially, it was called "the Kinross-shire Bowling Club" and members were required to be shareholders - for the then significant sum of £1 each.
The 1st opening of the green was in April 1893, with its first match on 30th May, 1893, against Clackmannan, shortly after the club had joined the Association of Bowling Clubs of Clackmannan and Kinross on 27th May, 1893.
Initially, there were only 2 club competitions - the club championship and the rink medal. The original cup and medal are still awarded for the equivalent competitions today. The range of club competitons has expanded significantly over the years, with many trophies being donated in memory of past members; see Club Competitions for more details.
The original clubhouse was completed in 1898 at a cost of £165. The club still plays on its original green, and still uses its original clubhouse (albeit extended and modernised over the years) - both of which are on ground leased from the Lord Montgomery Estates.
Location:
Our club is right next to the High Street in Kinross, opposite the Green Hotel and adjacent to the Kinross Golf Courses access road. See below.
